In the past year Haldane relocated her studio to a hobby farm near Stoney Lake in the Kawartha Lakes area. Inspired by her immediate environment she is excited to see where her new surroundings will lead her artistically. She shares her new home with horses, chickens, dogs and many other visiting wildlife. |
After studying glass at Sheridan College School of Craft and Design in Oakville, Ontario, Christy Haldane studied for a semester in Australia at the Canberra School of Art. It was during this time that she began using window glass as the main material for her sculptures. |
Today Haldane produces site specific installations for private residences as well as one of a kind glass work. Although she views herself as a glass artist, Haldane is continuously experimenting with other materials to produce sculpture. Concrete, steel and rock are materials she has recently incorporated into her body of work. |
